This doll is an authentic 1928 Sleep Eye Patsy Doll, the antique version which is made of a composition. It has a heavy body, some real weight to it and measures about 14" tall. The sleep eyes have a topaz like color and she has airbrushed or painted hair. There are some chips on some of her fingers and there is wear around her joints where her arms neck and legs connect which is revealing a lighter peach tone color below her overall skin color which is most noticeable at the back of her legs (see photos). Some paint is missing from her nails revealing the under composition. The wear looks appropriate for her age. She has been cleaned and had her stringing replaced as it was deteriorated. We left the aging of the doll alone as it is part of her history and character. Doll now stands and poses and is back in action.
What is misleading about this doll is that it appears to have borrowed the 1985-1989 vinyl Patsy's outfit, tags, and box. It is possible the previous owner purchased a less expensive doll to steal the outfit and box to preserve their antique Patsy. So once again this is not a 1985 Patsy but a 1928 Composition Patsy in newer clothes and box. I can definitely see why they did it because this outfit is adorable and it's embroidered pink flowers and pink bow details with bonnet just make her look so sweet. She also comes with a mini teddy bear which did come with the original 1985-1989 outfit set. Her back has raised lettering stamped Effanbee Patsy Doll and she is 100% authentic. She has no cracking which is amazing, just the aging shown in the pictures of her outer paint.
