Fantasy for Dolls - Issue 25 Lantana by American Doll Dreams

ree

My second fantasy princess is Lantana, named for the dainty multi-toned flower of the South, a favorite of bees and butterflies.  Lantana was created from an American Girl doll featuring the charming Jess face mold.  I have given her warm brown eyes and a mystical face repaint.

Lantana has a happy butterfly dragon friend.  I named her after the beautiful lemon-yellow quartz crystal, Citrine.  This dragon was created by 3-D printing using a gradient color scheme of yellow, pink, and purple.  I have painted her big lustrous eyes to express her curious, playful personality.

The unique medieval gown I designed for my fantasy princess was sewn of velour, taffeta, and cotton fabrics.  Rich yellow and purple hues were chosen to reflect the colors of common fall wildflowers such as golden rod, aster, and ironweed.  The sleeves were lined with a matching floral butterfly pattern.  Intricate beaded dragonflies, pearls, and golden seed beads were added to the embroidered floral lace on the gown front.

Metallic gold trim and beaded silk flowers were also used to adorn the neckline and waist.  Her sleeves have white/gold crisscross ribbon designs interspersed with pearl beads across the yellow background.  I fashioned dangling beaded dragonfly earrings, a necklace, and a headpiece to compliment the gown.
