Fantasy for Dolls - Issue 26 Princess An by American Doll Dreams

My final custom doll creation was inspired by the folklore of the Chinese Zodiac, with 2025 being the year of the Wood Snake.  The snake in Chinese culture symbolizes creativity, wisdom, and rebirth: as the snake sheds its skin.  Introducing An, my one of a kind Chinese dragon snake princess.  Pronounced "ahn" her name means "peace" and reflects a desire for harmony.

In designing Princess An, I began with a gently preloved Nanea American Girl doll.  Beautiful brown eyes were installed and a complete face up was given using professional art materials.  Princess An's new face paint features feathered eyebrows, wispy eyelashes, blush, facial contouring, and lip shading.

Princess An is dressed in a special handmade ensemble reflecting the beauty of the traditional Chinese hanfu style.  Her outer robe is sewn of plum purple silk fabric featuring lovely blossoms, designs, and characters.  The satin lining is a solid orchid pink/purple color and was chosen to bring out these hues in the floral print above.  The sleeves are adorned with glass beads all along the edge.

The beaded belt and shimmering pink lower dress has a snap closure in back.  This ensemble also includes her diamond studded snake necklace, beaded dangle earrings, floral sash, white stockings, and golden slippers.

Her headpiece is decorated with pink, purple, and gold glass beads, pearls, a buton, and silk blossoms.  Gold beading wire was used to attachthe beaded head pin dangles, pearl strands, and flowers to a golden side comb.
