Fantasy for Dolls - Issue 7 Aveline's Steampunk Looks

As a costume designer by trade, one of my favorite things to do is to mix and match time periods and styles in character design.  Steampunk style is one of those trends that already does that, mixing a specific look based on both Victorian time periods with futuristic and industrial elements.  It bends the rules and plays with history to make something new and exciting.

Aveline is the heroine of our story today.  She is a practical type of woman who is independent and witty and has a real taste for adventure.  She's a treasure hunter and a historian and she finds herself in many a dangerous situation on her escapades. In her adventures she is often looking for clues to find artifacts of value.  

You'll find her researching in a library, or traveling to places on a treasure hunt.  

Her favorite mode of transportation is an airship and she loves to fly.  She is also quite inventive and creative and uses those talents in her adventures.

Aveline is dressed for her travels.  She is always on the hunt for something truly magnificent and always dresses to impress while staying practical.  Her top hat is decorated with elegant feathers, cogs, time pieces, and goggles.  She has matching earrings with cogs and chain because she has a sense of fashion and likes to display her flair.

Aveline wears a bolero jacket with a high collar.  The collar protects her neck from cold breezes and the long sleeves keep her warm, but not too warm. When she gets too hot, her peasant top underneath is short sleeved and allows her to be cooler.

Aveline's Utility Belt is made from real brown leather and decorated with cog buttons and her necessary tools.  One cog is heart shaped.  She is not afraid to show her kindness and she keeps her heart open to others.  Scissors are her favorite tool as she finds them handy for a variety of uses on her adventures. Aveline carries a vial of knock-out-dust as she prefers a non-violent means of escape if ever she is in a pickle and needs a quick get-away.

Aveline's skirt is a high low skirt. There are often times where she needs to run to or run away and tripping on a long skirt is not an option.  Her knickers keep her modest when she's on the move.  Her boots are functional enough to run in as well as being fashionable.

Aveline's face is handpainted by @dollmakersnotebook and is wearing our Maxine in Dark Chocolate wig.  Aveline does not have a lady's maid on her adventures so there is no time for updos or curling, so a quick style bob is easy for her to maintain.
