A little girl very preciously sent her favorite baby away on a trip to our hospital. This baby was so loved that the little girl could barely part with her for even a moment so time was of the essence.

When I opened up the box and lifted her baby out I saw that she had lovingly packed a suitcase filled with Baby’s things for her travels and a soft pillow and blanket so baby would be comfy away from home.

Baby’s stuffing had failed and it became important that she get restuffed to be the proper companion for her little girl. With these types of situations, a young girl becomes forever bonded with her doll and exactly the way she looks. It’s a memory and it’s important to preserve those memories during repairs. This is not about making the doll look as if she’d just come from the store, but rather restoring a well loved companion.
We did do a thorough soak on the doll to make sure she was clean before we restuffed her. Her staining was permanent and we left baby’s nail polish job alone to preserve her owners memories.

We opened a small portion in the lower back and removed the little bits of smashed old stuffing and restuffed her with fresh stuffing. We wanted to pack the stuffing tight enough to give her arms and legs some support and body shape but not pack too tightly so that there was room to squeeze and hug.

After stuffing there was just closing up the back with an invisible stitch to finish the job.

Now baby can return home to her little girl for many more memories.
