Fantasy for Dolls - Issue 14 Glinda

Welcome to the final day spent in the "World of Oz" together.  For this last day, AG Doll Magic has saved a very special ensemble for you all - Glinda's Bubble Dress and Accessories!

ree

This final ensemble was the most intricate of the entire "Oz" collection and it took me nearly a full week to complete the look - from drafting patterns, to cutting circles upon circles of satin and tulle for the skirting (and then running out midway through!), to hand-stitching sequins, beading the bodice, painting bubbles, making accessories...well you get the idea!  It was a very large project to take on but it truly became my very favorite piece from this entire collection!

Eight circle layers of a gorgeous salmon pink fabric and twenty-four layers of white and pink tulle stitched overtop each circle was used to make the skirting of this dress!  The layers of fabric used for the skirting were folded and shaped into a petal design just the same as Glinda's Bubble Dress in the "Wicked" film.  Each petal is adorned with metallic bubbles that have been hand-painted onto the fabric as well as silver sequins to accent the bubbles!  Each petal of the skirt was then sewn onto a waistband and the waistband was then attached to a petticoat made of the same salmon pink fabric to give the dress some stability and to help carry the weight of the skirting!  The bodice of the dress is actually a separate piece altogether, but it fits right overtop the skirting to give the overall feel of a full gown!  The bodice has been hand-beaded with an array of beads and sequins sewn on in a similar fashion/design as Glinda's.

Along with the gown, Glinda's wand and crown are included.  The wand has been painted and hand beaded to resemble the actual wand used in the "Wicked" film and the beautiful crown is by Bbeauty Dolls.

Behind the Scenes with AG_Doll Magic!

ree

The set for the Wizard of Oz shoot, was something I had envisioned creating to showcase this collection since the start of this project.  It was inspired by the original artwork for the 1939 "Wizard of Oz" film (see photo above).  To make the yellow brick road, I taped together several yellow posterboards and measured for the width of each brick before drawing them onto the board.  Once the road was finished, I found the perfect spot to shoot!  I added to the scene by cutting several bundles of faux flowers and scattering them alongside th road.  The set was complete and it was the perfect way to capture "The World of Oz" Collection!

Thank you so much for coming along this wonderful journey back to the Wizard of Oz and taking a closer look at this special one of a kind fantasy inspired collection with us.  Until next time!
