Fantasy for Dolls - Issue 12 Cowardly Lion

The fourth look in our "World of Oz Collection" features the Cowardly Lion!  Let's take a look at how this adorable Lion ensemble was made and the inspiration used to create it!

The Cowardly Lion is the final traveling companion Dorothy meets on her way to Oz and while the Lion seems frightening at first, it becomes clear that he simply believes himself to be a coward.  While on their journey, the Lion eventually finds his courage and I think this doll-sized Lion is just as courageous in this custom ensemble!  Made from a light brown felt fabric, this one-piece outfit was designed to be fully functional yet mimic the same textured, oversized look as the original Lion's wardrobe in the film! This one-piece bodysuit features a soft fuzzy body with added patches of a dark brown faux fur at the stomach, back, wrists, and thighs giving it an added layer of texture, as well as enclosed footies and hands.  The sleeves are made to be scrunched upward to mimic the look of the Lion's skin folds in the costume.  A tail is also attached to the backside of the bodysuit and adorned with the same dark brown faux fur as is on the stomach at the tip of the tail.

Along with the bodysuit, included in this set are the Lion's ears which have been crafted by hand and sewn onto a headband which fits easily onto the doll's head as well as a red bow from Bbeauty Dolls clipped into the Lion's hair to create his signature appearance!
